Steelers Win–and the Bears (the Polar ones) are Still safe.

on February 1st, 2009 by mark

09_sbxliii_offense01_102997I’ve been fairly busy, but not too busy to bask in the glow of the Pittsburgh Steeler win. I’m no sports fan now, but going back to childhood, I watched a lot of football with my brother, Jerry, who remains a big fan–committed to his beloved Chicago Bears. He’s the one that taught me the value of supporting a team. Without that, what’s the point?

And so I picked the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dad was born and raised in Pittsburgh and I’d been to a Pirates games at the venerable Three Rivers Stadium as a tyke, so the Steelers would do. My era? The era: Bradshaw, Bleier, Harris, Mean Joe, Ham, Lambert, Swann–all the rest. So, it’s no wonder.

Today, for perhaps the first time in….well, a long time, I hosted a Superbowl party at our house and Sue went all out for it. Tons of food, gallons of beer, etc.

It was a grand game–and a bunch of us had a good time and that’s all I have to say about that.

So, here’s a nice link. Since my pal Adam sought to put the kaibash on my story about the hoax that is global warming by saying that the Arctic is melting….well, no it isn’t. As usual–too much hype.

What Adam needs to understand is that it is the hysteria about “man-made” climate change or warming or cooling. That is the pablam that is unsupportable by the facts. Green house effect, Global Warming, Climate Change are all just sub groups of the whole which is to condemn commerce as evil. If we all just went back to riding horses and farming organically (which I am a huge supporter of with my hard earned dollars) then we would all live simpler, more eco friendly lives. That is what is objectional. It is the height of arrogance that speaks of man causing all of these ills, as if the planet would be static and “normal” without our activity.

    Pure rubbish, that.

PS, congrats to the Steelers, though I was heart broken for the Cardinals, being from Phoenix at this point, it was hard not to root for them. My whole family was very excited for them.
